She was predeceased by: her brother Richard Swanson; and her son Richard Cherry. She is survived by: her husband William Newby; her children, William Cherry Jr. (Cheryl), Linda Higdon, Nancy Mansfield, Ellison Specht (John), Melissa Kroetsch, Tracy Youtsos (Tony) and Jody Adams; and her grandchildren, Eric, Tiffany, Adam, Robin, Scott, Buffy, Christina, Tina, Henry, Amber, Angela, Lisa, April, Daris, Sarah, Alexandra, Raylyn, Ronald, Jason, Keith, Shane and Preston.
