He was predeceased by: his brother-in-law Harold; and his parents, Marvin Brinks and Helen Brinks. He is survived by: his wife Linda Brinks; his children, Joseph Brinks, Jr., Dr. Pamela Compton (Andrew), Christina Brinks Rea (Michael), John Brinks (Mary) and James Brinks (Anna); his siblings, Gordon Brinks (Judy), Paul Brinks (Leah), Ellen Stroo (William), Sharon Brinks, Calvin Brinks (Marcia) and Joyce Cornelisse (Robert); and his sisters-in-law, Marlene Vander Veen (Robert), Vonda (Dave) and Deborah Doezema (Lary).
