He was predeceased by: his wife Naida Boelema (Staal); his son William J. Boelema; his parents, Theodore Boelema and Hilda Boelema (Karsies); and his siblings, Theodore Boelema, Marian Daining and Elene DeVoogd.
He is survived by: his children, Anne, Jim Brouwer, Ted and Betsy Boelema; his grandchildren, Adalynn, Samuel, Joseph and Jacob Brouwer; his sister-in-law Sharon Staal; his niece Shelly Brinks; and his nephews, Scott Staal, Matt Staal, John David Staal and Keith Staal.
