He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Slanger and Sophie Slanger (DeJager); his wife Lois Slanger; his brother William; and his sister-in-law Ruth Slanger.
He is survived by: his children, William Slanger (Lou Ann Palmer), Larry Slanger (Marlene), Sheryl Plating (Steve), Terry Slanger (Shawn), Michael Slanger (Marilyn), Cindy Burke (Rick) and Kimberly Slanger (David Dyer); and his close friend Patt Vandermaas. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 47 or to Gentiva Hospice.
