She was predeceased by: her parents, Jerry and Della Koning (Bont); her sister Jackie Hancock; her brothers-in-law, Howard Hancock and David Steinhauer; her nieces, Kathie Kolkema Siefert, Cathy Malone and Cristine Wykstra; and also Dorothy Spencer (Grooters).

She is survived by: her husband Bruce; her son Bruce Spencer, Jr. (Patti); her grandsons, William Spencer and Chance Spencer; her sisters, Geraldine McCarthy (Timothy), Patricia Steinhauer and Kathleen Heukels (Sam King); and also, Dorothy Langford, Carol Mandigo (George), Doug Spencer (Zayna), Joyce Hay and Terry Spencer (Tracy).

Born in Grand Rapids on June 13, 1944, Sue passed away peacefully from complications due to Alzheimer's disease on May 18, 2018.
