He was predeceased by: his wife Betty; his parents, Adrian Guchte and Maria Vande Guchte; his parents-in-law, Betsy Hagedoorn and Henry Hagedoorn; and his brother-in-law John Oosting (Geraldine).

He is survived by: his children, Kevin Vande Guchte (Teresa), Beth Fulvi of Richmond, IN and Kathi Vande Guchte; his grandchildren, Shane Smith, Jessica Smith, Nathan Vande Guchte, Cammi Fulvi, David Vande Guchte and Melissa Vande Guchte; his great grandchildren, Angelice, Eva, Liam, Lucy and Josie; his siblings, Peter Vande Guchte (Judy) and Wilma DeJong (Norman); and his sisters-in-law, Nicholas Hagedoorn (Norma) and Sue Sweetman (Bill).
