He was predeceased by: his grandson Brandon Raterink; his parents, Gilbert Raterink and Martha Raterink; and his siblings, Betty Troyer, Harold Raterink, Mildred Barton, Virginia Weimer and Robert Raterink.
He is survived by: his wife Lela Ruth; his children, Robert Raterink, Jacqueline, Daniel Syswerda, Nancy and Donald Westra; his grandchildren, Robert Raterink (Taryn), Heidi Syswerda, Kami VandenBosch (Joshua), Ashley Lanting (Joshua), Colton Syswerda, Amanda VandenBerg (Lee), Paul Westra (Lisa) and Lane Westra; his great grandchildren, Brycen, Brynlee, Kora, Jaxton, Jett, Eason, Rhettley, Monica, Joshua, Gabriel and Patrick; and his sister-in-law Betty Raterink. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (4145 Chicago Dr SW, Grandville, MI 49418). A memorial service was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
