He was predeceased by: his parents, Mina June Vander Ark and Willard June; his brothers-in-law, Dale McKenzie and Fred Taylor; and his grandson Christian.
He is survived by: his wife Judy (Smith); his children, Carmen Blankespoor (Curt), Julie Hoover (Brent), Brent Vander Ark (Betty) and Jon Vander Ark (Amy); his siblings, Ron Vander Ark (Allison), Diane McKenzie and Mary Taylor; his grandchildren, Mitch Blankespoor (Janel), Jenna Maggio (Jon), Emily Clark (Ethan), Sidney Cartwright (Alex), Austin Hoover (Paris), Taylor Hoover, Anna Hoover, Kate Hoover, William Vander Ark (Meghan), Jackson Vander Ark (Bella), Owen Vander Ark, James Vander Ark, Fin Vander Ark and Darby Vander Ark; and his great grandchildren, Jesalyn, Tyus Blankespoor, Blake, Rowan Clark and Adele Vander Ark. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Christ Church (2500 Breton Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546).
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Holland Christian Schools, NorthPointe Christian Schools, or another Christian school of their choosing.
