Bernice Audrey Vanden left this world on November 15, 2024 at the age of 97, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her husband Tunis Vanden Berg MD; her children, William Jay Vanden Berg, Susan Vanden Berg (Steve Soper), Richard Vanden Berg (Dorothy Helder Vanden), Joyce Caldwell (Avery Caldwell) and Mary Battjes (Jim Battjes); her grandchildren, Christina MacDonald (Glen), Melissa Parker (Daniel), Jonathan Bergman (Naomi), Rachel Engels (Stephen), Benjamin Schaap and Mallory Shane; her great grandchildren, Kiera, Liam, Lucas, Levi, Caroline, Addie, Abe, Johanna, Eliza, Marlowe and Elliott; her children-in-law, Carl Bergman, Steve Schaap and Steele Shane; her in-laws, Wilhemina, Jim Quackenbush, Dick, Thea VanHalsema, Jack, Betsy DeKorne, Gerard, Fran VanHalsema, Cathy VanHalsema, John, Marian TenHave, Helen VandePolder, Anne, Neil DeVries, William, Mary Beth Vanden Berg, Marian Vanden Berg, Len, Joyce Vanden Berg, Alyda, Bob Veenstra, Martin Vanden Berg, Gilbert Vanden Berg (Bud), Mary and Don Walstrom; and her parents, Rev. Emo Van Halsema (Ermelo) and Nellie Lucas Van Halsema.
She is survived by: her brother Frank Van Halsema of Boston, MA; and her sisters-in-law, Gretchen Vanden Berg and Lavonne Vanden Berg. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Beckwith Hills Christian Reformed Church (2100 Chelsea Rd NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Beckwith Hills CRC or Resonate Global Mission.
