He was predeceased by: his father George R. Gilton; his grandson Robert Williams; his great grandchild Malachi Levi Aaron Williams; and his siblings, George, James, Raymond, William, Kenneth Gilton and Wilma Miller.

He is survived by: his children, Jerri Houck (Christopher), Keith Ann Arthur and Brian Gilton; and his brother Malvern Gilton. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
