He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Bates and Ann Gries; and his sisters, Robin Geddert and Ashley Anderson. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn; his children, Brittnei Torgerson (Rex), Johnathan "Blaize" Geddert and McKyleigh Geddert; his grandchildren, Jade and Delaney Torgerson; his siblings, Wayne Bates (Denise), Tina Bates, Mark Bates (Kristine) and Sam Geddert; his stepmother Gayle Bates; his mother-in-law Alice Wixson; and his sister-in-law Kiki Wixson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Bee Foundation, The Ronald McDonald House or the charity closest to your heart.
