He was predeceased by: his wife Doris; his daughter Terry Jenks; and his siblings, Bob, Albert Songer and Joyce Jones.

He is survived by: his children, Iola Belt of Louisville, KY, Douglas Songer Jr. (Cindy), Kim Forrester (Jim) of Charlotte, Brian Songer (Lisa) and Lansing; and his sister Helen Haskel. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
