He was predeceased by: his wife Ann; his daughter Rebecca; and his brother Vernon. He is survived by: his children, Lynn O'Berry (Michael) of DeWitt and Paul (Philip Rugel) of Kalamazoo; his granddaughters, Faye Hildenbrand of Lansing and Caitlyn O'Berry of Holt; his great grandchildren, Christian and Elaine Hildenbrand; and his brother Elmer of Skandia.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wanting to make donations to the Lansing Community College Fire Science Program, 309 N. Washington Square, Suite 201, Lansing, Michigan 48933.
