He was predeceased by: his father Jerdian "Jerry" Cheesmond. He is survived by: his mother Beverly Cheesmond (Mingus); his wife Jane; his children, Sarah Young (Dusty), Rachel LaBorde (Derrick) and Joshua Cheesmond (Brianna); his grandchildren, Lincoln, Novah, Norah, Eliyanah and Ford; his sisters, Angela Hale (Douglas) and Susan Hazen; and his pet Paisley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
