She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Zwaag and Henrietta Vander Zwaag (Ruiter); her husband Lawrence "Larry" Schmitt; her children, Joel Schmitt and Kristin Laug; and her sister Lois VanDyke.
She is survived by: her sons, Larry P. Schmitt (Susan) of South Haven and Stewart Schmitt (Sandy) of Spring Lake; and her children-in-law, Shirley Schmitt and Ryan Laug. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
