He was predeceased by: his parents, Doores Waanders and Grada (Heynen); his wife Judy; his siblings, Henry Waanders (Herk) and JoAnne Brasser; and his parents-in-law, Carl Sinke, Lewis Brasser, Jane Zwiers and Tom Abraham.
He is survived by: his children, John "Jody" Waanders (Andreae) of Harbor Springs, MI, James Waanders (Jenifer) of Indianapolis, IN, Nicholas Waanders (Patricia) of Springdale, AR, Deborah Haithcox (Keith) of Osceola, IN, Amy Jeninga (Kenneth) of Brookfield, WI and Peter Waanders (Jennifer) of Aspen, CO; and his parents-in-law, Cora Mae Sinke, Marilyn Waanders, Doris (Jean), Tony Diekema, William, Pat Waanders, Judy, Bob Wiers and Cynthia Abraham. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He honored the cocktail hour his whole life, continuing them on Zoom calls with his kids twice a week through the pandemic.
