He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Cerny and Hans Cerny; his sister Carol Crout; and his brother-in-law Don Crout. He is survived by: his friend Tom; his wife Carol; his children, Jen (Jack) and Rob; and his nephew Gregory.

Visitation was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Meal and Fellowship. A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. Despite a general suspicion of technology, he took great pride in ensuring that Zoom made it possible to keep everyone connected during COVID and afterward committed to hosting a Zoom option for live meetings ensuring no one missed out.
