He is survived by: his wife Nancy Diane Payton; his children, Bradley Smith of Grand Blanc, Cortney Schillinger of Grand Blanc, Amanda Schillinger of Grand Blanc and Michael Schillinger of Grand Blanc; his grandchildren, Yasar, Saafa, Areej Tahboob, Christian, Madlyn Smith, Sebastion Schillinger, Madison Tuttle and Gage Tuttle (Trinity); and his siblings, Steven Schillinger of Grand Blanc, Rebecca Friendly of Fenton and Shaun Schillinger (Belinda) of Gladwin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
