He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hempton and Lulu Hempton (Berthume); his brothers, George "Sonny" Hempton and Jim; and his brother-in-law Giles Hofacer.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Hempton; his children, Janell Zirnhelt (Tim) and Bradley Hempton (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Ashley Aikens (Bob), Ryan Hempton (Ashley), Jillian Zirnhelt (Charles Plambeck), Jolynn Zirnhelt and Thomas Zirnhelt; his great grandchildren, Jackson, Maverick Aikens, Breanna, Braden, Dana, Delaney, Jared Daniel and Amaya Hempton; his sisters, Lola Hofacer and Lois Bouck (Bob); and his siblings-in-law, Pat Hempton, Dallas Thomas (Janet), Clark Thomas (Rita) and Jerry Thomas (Kathy). He is also survived by other loving family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County, in Dan's memory.
