He was predeceased by: his parents, Duane Smith and Opal Smith; his wife Jane Watkin; and his siblings, Duane Smith Jr., Harold Smith, Gilberta Evans and Joan Smith.
He is survived by: his children, John Smith (Diane) of Gobles, Calvin Smith (Lori) of Gobles, Todd Smith (Tyna) of Gobles and Julia Jones (Lonnie) of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Ryan Smith (Vi), Jereme Smith (Sarah), Garrett Smith (Julie), Justin Smith (Jacqueline), Mitchell Smith (Casey), Kyle Smith, Paula Stanton (Scott) and Carter Jones (Kirsten); and his sister Betty Overacker of Mattawan. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Gobles United Methodist Church (210 E Exchange St, Gobles, MI 49055). A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Gobles Public School Foundation.
