He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Barnebee and Bernice Barnebee (Elliott); his son Richard "Rick" Jr.; and his brother Walter. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Soderlund of Gladwin; and his daughters, Laura Marcum of Burton and Susan Frazier of Flint.
