He was predeceased by: his parents, David Smith and Dorothy Smith (Goheen); his wife Betty Schuler; his daughter Penny Smith; his daughter-in-law Sharon Smith; his grandson Danl Johnson; and his siblings, Ray Smith and Yvonne Corlew.

He is survived by: his children, Candy Johnson (Tom) and Scott Smith; his grandchildren, Danielle Johnson (Nathan), Dustin Johnson (Jessica), Kazandra Smith (Tony Frasher), Tristen Duford (Nicole) and Kasey Smith; his great grandchildren, Tori, Bryce, Ryder, Chloe, Drew, Alexander, Owen, Samantha, Greg, Lizzie and Averee; and his sisters, Rose Smith and Carolyn Corlew. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
