She was predeceased by: her parents, John Szczepanik and Stephania Szczepanik (Grodicki); and her siblings, Theresa Chlanda (John), Josie Klocek and Andrew Miska (James).
She is survived by: her husband James Cavanaugh; her children, Diane Wallace (Tom) of Trenton, Don Cavanaugh of Gaylord, Bonnie Peterson (Scott) of Beaverton, John Cavanaugh of Beaverton and Erin Cavanaugh of Detroit; her grandchildren, Jaime, Stephanie, Tristen and Travis; her great grandchild Rickey; and her sister Virginia Szcepanik of Dearborn Heights.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made according to Irene's favorite charities, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Capuchin's Fr. Solanus Soup Kitchen- Detroit.
