Carolyn Sue Brinkman Obituary
Carolyn Sue Brinkman, age 83, passed away unexpectedly at her home on January 8, 2025. Born on May 3, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the cherished daughter of the late Alger and Caroline (Poznanski) Banonis.
On September 4, 1965, Carolyn wed her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Brinkman, at her childhood parish, Ascension Catholic Church in Cleveland. Their union was blessed with 59 years of shared love, and his devotion remains strong. In addition to Robert, Carolyn is survived by three loving daughters: Susan Brinkman, Cathy (Russell) Fischer, and Lynn Brinkman; five adoring grandchildren: Cory (Sara) Meisel, Catlin Meisel (Andrew), Carli Meisel, Cai Meisel, Remy Fischer, and Josie Fischer; her beloved great-grandchildren: Kadyn, Spencer, and Sophia. Carolyn's joy was multiplied by the anticipation of welcoming a great-grandson, Elijah, shortly.
She also leaves behind her brother, Alger (Carol) Banonis, and her sister, Patricia Frazier, whom she loved fondly along with many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews that filled her heart throughout her life.
Carolyn's life was a testament to her loving nature and her unwavering commitment to her family and church. She was proud to serve beside her husband, who is an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and support the Right to Life organization, where she advocated for the voiceless with compassion and conviction.
Volunteering was second nature; serving as a Girl Scout leader for many years, and giving her time generously to the Mission, Baby Pantry, Gladwin Historical Society, volunteering for Red Cross disaster relief all around the world, and various other groups. She was always striving to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Carolyn's faith was central to her life, and she was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church, living out her faith in action.
Her interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. A lifelong passion for music was evident as she played in several musical groups, particularly enjoying her time with the "Jolly Hammers.". She loved an adventure, whether it be camping on Isle Royale or flying overseas to explore countries like Australia and Europe.
She had a unique desire to spread joy, which even led her to attend Clown College, an experience that allowed her to bring smiles to many faces, while performing in various venues over the years.
Above all, Carolyn cherished being with her family and her husband. The moments spent surrounded by her loved ones were the ones she treasured most. Words that best describe Carolyn are loving, compassionate, and faith-filled. Her kind heart and her unwavering belief in the goodness of people will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Carolyn's life was a beautiful reflection of her values, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her generous spirit. Her memory will live on as a beacon of love and laughter, guiding those she left behind. Carolyn Sue Brinkman's journey on earth has ended, but her spirit will continue to inspire and comfort us for generations to come.
