Alta Marie Wright, affectionately known as Marie, was a beacon of love and generosity in the Gladwin community where she was both born and passed away, surrounded by her family. On January 1, 2025, at the age of 97, at The Brook of Gladwin, Marie completed her earthly journey, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and cherished memories.
Born on January 11, 1927, to Roy and Delia (Sampson) Snyder, Marie grew up in Gladwin, Michigan, where she would eventually meet and marry her beloved husband, Emil Wright. Together, they built a life filled with love and raised two sons Ray and Patrick.
Throughout her life, Marie was known for her unwavering work ethic. She was a familiar face to many through her dedicated service at Don's Market, Goldbergs, and H & E.
Marie's interests were a reflection of her outgoing and social spirit. She was an avid square dancer, a skillful bowler, and an enthusiastic reader. Her love for playing cards and bingo was only matched by her passion for volunteering with the Good Fellows, where she contributed countless hours to helping those in need. Above all, Marie cherished spending time with her family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Those who knew Marie would describe her as loving, generous, thoughtful, the best mom, and grandma. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy, and her influence will be felt for generations to come.
Marie is survived by her son Ray (Joanne), grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, and Brooke Marie Wright, great-grandson, Leopold Letherer, sister Betty Snyder, niece Jeanne Snyder. She was preceded in death by her husband Emil on April 23, 2013, son Patrick, brother's; Carl (Jean) Snyder, Dwight (June) Snyder, and sister Annette.
As we bid farewell to Marie, we celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the profound impact she had on those around her. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, and her memory will be treasured forever.
