He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his son John LaPlant (Tammy); his granddaughters, Emily LaPlant, Brittany and Kathleen Kleikamp (Wayne); and his siblings, Lynn LaPlant (Sue), Gary LaPlant (Helen) and Susan Gustafson (Ken). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
