Richard Patrick Obituary
Richard Allen Patrick, age 53, of Gladstone, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at U.P. Health System – Marquette. He was born on May 28, 1968 in Shelby, Mich., the son of Charles Patrick and Dorene Hill. Richard graduated from high school and went on to attend college for two years. Throughout his career, Richard was an industrial welder and travelled around the U.S. working on bridges and high-rises.
He later relocated to the Upper Peninsula, settling in Gladstone, and has been employed by E&LS Railroad in human resources as their safety director for the past four years. Richard loved taking long rides on his Harley Davidson and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren – he'd always just stop by to see them. He also greatly enjoyed nature and aspired to be a National Forest Ranger when he was younger.
Richard is survived by his wife, Michelle Patrick of Ludington, MI; children, Tambrea Sumner (fiance Michael Swaynie) of Gladstone, Scarlet (Corey) Burch of Shelby, Mich., Richard Scott Patrick of Pittsburgh, Pa., Zachary Knapp of Morley, Mich., and April Whitney of Big Rapids, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Lokie, Hannah, October, Axel, Hasley, Keegan, and Lawrence; siblings, Donna Phelps, of Spring Lake, Mich., Chester (Sherry) Evans of Marne, Mich., Roger Evans of Indianapolis, Ind., Violet Dawn (Howard) Waldron of Grant, Mich., Paula Evans of White Cloud, Mich., and Terry (Brenda) Evans of Zebulon, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Voice. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Burial will take place at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021 in Big Prairie-Everett Cemetery in White Cloud, Mich.
