He was predeceased by: his parents, Max O. Coon, and Constance Coon, Sr. (Platt); his siblings, Gwendolyn Coon, Fred Coon and Steven Coon; his parents-in-law, Richard and Stella Louise Pruett; and his brother-in-law Patrick Thomas.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Coon (Pruett); his children, Lisa Alghawali (Tony) and Jason Coon (Kendalle); his grandson Jimmy Alghawali; and his siblings, Diane Thomas, Tricia Coon, Paul Coon (Melody), John Coon (Marianne) and Jody Coon (Wendy). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
