He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Fahler and Fanny Fahler (Roberts); his son Mark Fahler; his stepson William Nash; and his brothers, Larry and Danny Fahler.

He is survived by: his close friend Bob Pruitt; his wife Virginia; his children, Joel Fahler (Bonnie) of Gaylord, Kelly Fahler (Stephanie) of Gaylord, Michael Fahler (Tiffany) of Lansing and Natalie Gates (Dale) of Pierre; his stepdaughters, Kimberly Schuelke (Daniel) of Gaylord and Lynn Prusakiewicz (Jeff) of Gaylord; and his pet Mitzi. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
