It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gordon Smith of Garden, Michigan, born in Alma, Michigan, who passed away on February 23, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Smith and Lucinda Smith (Godwin); and his sister Melissa Williams Smith. He is survived by: his son Steven Smith of Chinquapin; his stepsons, Mies Martin (Beth) of Grand Rapids, MI, Marc Martin of East Lansing, MI and Chris Martin of Kailua-Kona, HI.; and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Jean Smith, Margaret Ann Shoals (Robert) and Elizabeth C Williams. He is also survived by Eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A deep regret of his was that the restrictions from the massive stroke, prevented him from using his knowledge of public health to help keep the COVID crisis under control.
