He was predeceased by : his parents, Ealy Ackerman and Ella Ackerman (Engelhard); and his brother Norbert Ackerman. He is survived by : his former life partner Annabelle Rowbotham; his wife Ann; his children, Gayle Ortner (Kevin) of Bay City, Christene Swartzendruber (Dan) of Essexville, Caroline Robison (Brody) of Grayling, Marjorie Ackerman of Fargo and James Ackerman of Ormond Beach, Florida; his grandchildren, Hilary Rau (Courtney), Devin Ortner (Alexis), Kaleb Ortner (Mackenzie Eurich), Jason, Jessica Swartzendruber, Austin, Skyler Robison and Rachel Ackerman (Riley Fischer); his siblings, Norleen Ackerman of Taylorsville, Utah and Harold Ackerman of Sterling Heights; and his sister-in-law Joanna Ackerman of Rochester Hills. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
