He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Shaffer and Magnolia Shaffer (Royer); his wife Carolynn E. Kope; his children, Ronald "Ron" Shaffer, Catherine Bartley and Carol Shaffer; his grandson David Shaffer; and his siblings, Charles Shaffer, Helen Moore, Carl "Pete" Shaffer, Marcille Carter, Loren Shaffer, Jean Scholfield, Roy Shaffer, Paul Shaffer and Mary Shaffer.
He is survived by: his sons, Richard Shaffer (Bonnie) of Pittsford, Roger Shaffer (Cheryl) of Frontier and Russel Shaffer (Belinda) of Camden; and his sister Lillie Junge of Holgate, Ohio.. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren.
