He is survived by: his wife Deborah Ferguson of Fremont; his children, Tanya Renee Locke (John) of Fremont, Cheryl Robinson (Dan) of Grant, Billie Jo Berends (Chuck Smith) of Newaygo, Gerry Lee Deater (Jane) of Grant, Tracy Monroe Deater of Newaygo and Trevor Bryce Deater (Katie) of Grant; and his siblings, Doug Berends (Nola), Charlene Rogers (Jerry), Duane Berends (Nancy) and Marv Berends (Deb). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
