Matthew Okkema Obituary

He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Sr. Okkema and Mary Okkema (Snyder); his brother Milo Okkema; his parents-in-law, Elinore Okkema, Steve Kolk, Mary, Harold Rottman, Howard Swinehart, Terry VanKoevering and Ken Boerman; and his great grandchild Zachary Israels.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Boerman; his children, Bruce Okkema (Mary) of Zeeland, Ruth Bratt (Dave) of Rockford, Sue VandenBrink (Bruce) of Dorr and Joni Brookens (Ron) of Zeeland; his grandchildren, Rosemary Kuperberg (Robert), Robin Van Bragt (Rick), Holly Israels (Kyle), Corrie Van Eck (Mike), Tom Bratt (Jessica), Joe Bratt (Thea), Jenny Heyboer (AJ), Sarah Bratt, Matt Vriesman (Katie), Brian Brookens (Kristin), Scott Brookens (Kristina) and Heidi Brookens; his sisters, Mary Jean Kolk of Lansing and Florence Nieuwenhuis (Garry) of North Haledon, NJ; and his sisters-in-law, Helen Swinehart, Margaret Van Koevering and Sharon Boerman. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11:00am Friday, April 16, at Faith Reformed Church, 220 W Central, Ave, Zeeland, with Rev. Daniel Gillett officiating; please wear a mask until seated.
