We bid farewell to George Leslie Matthews of Fremont, Michigan, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 24, 2025 at the age of 84. George touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, F. Harvey Matthews and Rachel M. Matthews; his siblings, Wayne and Linda Hile (Les); and his siblings-in-law, Richard Matthews and June Clase (Michael).
He is survived by: his wife Lois Matthews; his son Ron Matthews (Marte); his grandchildren, Paige Rehfus (Zach), Trent Matthews (Laura White) and Lance Matthews; his great grandchild Valerie Rehfus; his sisters, Ella Mae Matthews and Catherine Moore (Robert); his siblings-in-law, Patrick Rice (Janet), Dan Rice (Gina), DeAnn Jochen (Mark) and Mary Lou Lynn (Rod); and his friend Walter Hayes.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Holton Methodist Church (9530 Holton-Duck Lake Rd, Holton, MI 49425). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Muskegon Harbor Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
