He was predeceased by: his parents, Don Dowland and Marie Dowland; his wife Andrea "Annie" Dowland; and his brothers, Ed Dowland and Dennis Dowland.
He is survived by: his brother-in-law George; his sister Linda Dowland-Bell (George) of Frederic; his children, Richard Lee Dowland Jr. (Emilee) of Frederic, MI, Troy Damon Dowland (Tasha) of Gaylord, MI and Jody Marie Ruddy (Joseph) of Grayling, MI; and his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jessica, Dylan, Andrea, Damion, Abigail, Cleland and Ember. He is also survived by step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
