He was predeceased by: his parents, Gustav Engel and Lydia Engel; his spouse Annemarie Leprich; his brother Raymond Engel; his son-in-law Edward Barnes; and his brothers-in-law, John Leprich (Elfiede) and Steven Szilagyi.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Engel Barnes, Michele Freiberger (Philip), Michael Engel (Judy) and Maryanne Lentner (Kevin); his grandsons, Patrick, Jason Kinney, Aaron Engel (Allison), Lucas and Michael Lentner; his great grandchildren, Colton and Emma; and his siblings-in-law, Irene Engel, Rose Foster, Margot Schellhas (John) and Elek Szilagyi (Karen). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
