He is survived by: his spouse Wilma Petzold; his children, Brian Knoll (Lisa), Keith Knoll (Jenny) of Vassar, MI, Lynette Heinlein (Bruce) of Vassar, MI, Denise Sommerfield (Scott) of Munger, MI and Deborah Zwerk (Charles) of Reese, MI; his grandchildren, Andrea Lowe (Adam), Douglas Knoll, Rebekah Knoll, Jeffrey Knoll, Cory Knoll, Bret Heinlein (Devin), Karah Leach (Andrew), Lance Heinlein (Lisa), Luke Sommerfield (Paige), Lesley Sommerfield, Bradley Sommerfield, Nicholas Zwerk (Angie), Calvin Zwerk and Hillary Romain (Mark); his sisters, Bernice Schiefer (Harvey) and Loretta Weber; and his siblings-in-law, Ronald Petzold (JoAnne), Lorine Petzold and Norene Trappa.
