With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Doris Schmitzer of Frankenmuth, Michigan, born in Saginaw, Michigan, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Doris left this world on October 10, 2024 at the age of 89, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Fanger and Beatrice Fanger; her husband Alois Schmitzer Jr. (Chip); and her siblings, Geraldine (Robert Hoernlein), Donald (Betty Fanger), Lorraine (Sonny Weiss) and Wilma Fanger (Betty Fanger).
She is survived by: her children, Alois III (Ruth Schmitzer) of Greenville, MI, Matt Schmitzer (Lori Reinbold Nugent) of Hemlock, MI, Monica (Dan Schultz) of West Bend, WI and Mary (Michael Bourdow) of Frankenmuth, MI.; her grandchildren, Grant Schmitzer, Silas Schmitzer, Faith Naumann, Jordan Schmitzer, Preston Schmitzer, Lana Sprain, Josh Holland, Sarah Beam, Dan Schultz, Rebekah Schultz, Anthony Bourdow, Nathan Bourdow and Monica Daniel; her in-laws, Kurt (Donna Schmitzer), Delphine (Jerry Blohm) and William Bergman (Joanne Schmitzer); and her nephew Terry Fanger. She is also survived by 26 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 14th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 15th 2024 at 10:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 15th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (1200 E Genesee St, Frankenmuth, MI 48734).
