He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Schmitz and Catherine Schmitz (Feldpausch); and his siblings, Freda Bauer (Ed), Stella Kinney (Tom), Agnes Faivor (Tom), Stanley Schmitz (Pat), Donald Schmitz (Mary Lou), Richard Schmitz, Justin Schmitz (Sharon), Eletha Schmitz, Peter Schmitz and Hilary Schmitz.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Schmitz; his children, Michelle Carroll, Doug Schmitz (Cindy), Dan Schmitz (Natalie) and Lisa Hensel (Nick); his grandchildren, Rachel Carroll, Nolan, Shannon, Taryn Schmitz, Emma, Allison, Bailey Schmitz, Garrett Johnson, Kinley and Brycen Hensel; his sister Eunice Pung (Clare); his sisters-in-law, Marcia Schmitz (late Hilary) and Fay Schmitz (late Richard); and his in-laws, Diane Kohagen (Larry), Donna Schafer and Daria Thelen (Joe). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
