He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Schafer and Matilda Schafer (Schlicht); and his siblings, Leon Schafer and Mary Schafer (Dave Antes). He is survived by: his wife Betty Schafer; his children, Allen (Kelly Schafer), Dale (Dana Schafer), Becky (Andy Beard) and Doug Schafer; his grandchildren, Robby, Tatiana Schafer, Kenny, Nikki Schafer, Nicole, Brett Thelen, Alex Beard, Kayla Beard, Kyle Beard, Cody Bentley and Brandon Bentley; his great grandchildren, Lilly Bentley, Audree Thelen and Anna Schafer; his siblings, Sister Pauline Schafer, Sister Caroline Schafer, Louis Schafer, Irene Ayles, Helen Thelen and Julia Schueller; and his sister-in-law Donna Schafer.
