He was loved and cherished by many people including: his former wife Mary L. Tincher; his wife Mary Wahl; his children, Shawn Clingenpeel (Mike), Reverend William E. Wahl (Kim), Timothy Wahl (Marci) and Reverend Matthew Wahl (Kara); and his sister Gladys Cain. He was also cherished by ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
