He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Karl A. Dobel and Rachael Dobel; his wife Sue Stone; his children, Kay Deanda, Kristopher "Kip" Dobel, Brock Deanda of Ludington, MI and Shannon Dobel of Fort Gratiot, MI; and his grandchildren, Jack Karl and Mikaela (Samuel Buckley).
He also was interested in the ships on the Great Lakes and was a volunteer with the Highlander Sea Sailing Ship, taking great enjoyment in being part of the crew and in helping to do maintenance. Prior to Covid restrictions Alan was part of the ROMEOs, enjoying the comradery of those men.
