He was predeceased by: his parent Thomas Vandergriff; his son Christopher Vandergriff; and his siblings, Frank Vandergriff, Herman Smith, Samuel Vandergriff, Daisy Gibson and Dorothy Smith.
He is survived by: his parent Ina Vandergriff; his spouse Ella Louise Mullins; his children, Robert Vandergriff and Terry Vandergriff of Fort Gratiot; his children-in-law, Chester Jr. Vandergriff (Carla) of Burtchville, Melody Stepanenko (David) of Kingwood and Tina Wood (Adrian) of Kimball; his grandchildren, Jessica, Tiffany, Robin, Elisabeth, Michelle, Ashley, Sarah, Danny, Meagan, Billy, Claire and Liam; and his brother Daniel Vandergriff of Goodells.
