He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Rau and Catherine Rau (Weycker); his great grandchild Sloane; his son-in-law John Roberts; and his brother Peter.

He is survived by: his wife Judy; his children, Teri (Dean Aube) of Ossineke, Karen Roberts of Texas, Kathy (Kevin Snyder) of Flushing, Dennis (Martha Rau) of Flushing and Linda Gordon of Kansas; his grandchildren, Alex, Jim, Jenna (Peter), Julia, Mitchell (Kayla), Elizabeth, Justin and Jack of Jacob, AJ; his great grandchildren, Liam, Teagan, Aubree, Mason and Kollyns; and his siblings, Fred (Marsha Rau), Albert Rau and Ava Bennett.
