He was predeceased by: his father Melvin Hicks. He is survived by: his mother Sue Hicks (Tackebury); his daughters, Adriane Kohn (James), Rachel Hicks (Sarah Coen) and Emily Hicks (Derrick Houston); his grandchildren, James, Jr. and Abigail; his sisters, Linda Sanders (Bill), Karen Hicks (Kevin) and Sharon Criner-Hicks (Kim); his close friend Susan Rahn; and his nieces and nephews, Sarah, Riley and Juliet.
