He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Simpkins and Louella Simpkins; his siblings, Clara Spiller, Shirley Ann Carter, Emma Jean Simpkins and Charles Simpkins; and his friend Solomon Lacy.
He is survived by: his wife Arnetta Simpkins; his children, Gwendolyn Simpkins of Bakersfield, CA, Carla Davis (Wesley) of Bakersfield, CA, Sandra "Fay" Leathers (Jim) of Bakersfield, CA, Lisa Paul of Bakersfield, CA, James Simpkins (Valerie) and Dormail "Lamont" Simpkins; his siblings, Calvin Simpkins of Chicago, IL, John Simpkins, Floyd Simpkins (Chelita) of Flint, MI, Veria Pitts, Gloria Hanson of Mt. Morris, MI, Jerdaine Snell, C. L. Booth and Loretta Young of Flint, MI; and his niece Daneen Simpkins. He is also survived by 58 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren.
