It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gary R. Ponkey of Flint, Michigan, who passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 55, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Gary R. Ponkey to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Ponkey and Dolores Ponkey (Hiler); and his siblings, Joanne Campbell (Don), Joyce Gabler (David) and Joseph "Butch" Ponkey, Jr..
He is survived by: his significant other Jan McLeod; his children, Dakota Ponkey and Kylie McLeod; his granddaughter Layla; and his brothers, Lawrence Ponkey (Ron), William Ponkey and Michael (Joanne Ponkey). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Monday, May 5th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and at 1:00 PM at the Swartz Funeral Home (1225 W Hill Rd, Flint, MI 48507). A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 5th 2025 at the same location.
