He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Jean Buechel; and his sisters, Marilyn and Lynette. He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Width (Jonathan), Jonathon Buechel (Lisa) and Jessica Smith (Mike); his sister Shirley Hedrick; his niece Deanna; and his nephew Phillip.
