He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Messmore and Bessie Messmore; and his siblings, Virginia, Cyrus, Elbert, Betty, Wray, Herman and Emil.
He is survived by: his significant other Jane Messmore (Reed); and his children, Patrick, Daniel Messmore, Susan (late Terry Farrar), Michael Messmore (Carla), Elizabeth Roberts (Chuck), Anne Harmon (Robbie Snelson) and Raymond Messmore (Joyce). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
